Remove the lid to add water; replace it and flip the switch on the 5-foot cord to start humidifying. The unit makes a pleasant purring sound as water is spun into cool mist, which is not as fine as that produced by models using wicks and creates some wetness on the floor in front of the unit. The manufacturer recommends periodically changing the filter and cleaning weekly with vinegar and bleach.
